The buzz is in the air and the camps reports have been turned up to 11. I'm going to sift through a little bit of the buzz that is ringing from rookies and vets that I think sticks and is worth targeting on rebuilders/contenders.

Buying the Buzz: Rebuilders

Cyrus Allen: I highlighted Cyrus as a name to watch in the July TDLR and since then he's only continued to ride his own wave to the hottest name in dynasty fantasy football. Say what you want about the prospects of a 5th round rookie (hell, even a Chiefs rookie), but the buzz has been too hard to ignore. From the "trust" of Mahomes, to the consistent reps with the 1s, to the intel via beat reports that have knowledge on how they view Cyrus and how he can change/compliment a pretty thin WR room; I'm buying. You're best bet as a rebuilder is a player for player swap as I don't think 1 or even 2 future 3rd rounders gets it done. Players with buzz right now I'd trade away for Cyrus on rebuilding roster include Dontayvion Wicks, Malik Washington, Keaton Mitchell, Khalil Shakir + the old vets Diggs & Deebo. It's the best part of dynasty, if you believe and want to chase the buzz, go do it. You're going to be wrong more times than not with deep dart throws, but ya gotta keep tossin' until something sticks. 

Caleb Douglas: I've been a steady supporter of Kevin Coleman Jr. as the WR I want from a cost perspective in dynasty for this ambiguous Dolphins WR room, but you can't ignore the hype around Caleb Douglas. A rangy 6'4'' 205 lb. speedster who played his last 2 seasons of college ball at Texas Tech has turned heads at camp and been a consistent bright spot snagging spirals from Malik Willis. No one knows how this WR room will shake out or how competent this Dolphins team will be, but I think the 75th overall pick is in a price range that is still acceptable. Another guy I would shoot a 27 3rd for or player swap the likes of Jaydon Blue, the old vets Diggs/Deebo, or even the high end handcuff RBs like a Brian Robinson/Isiah Pacheco. The question of Cyrus Allen or Caleb Douglas? I will take Cyrus.

Quick Hitters:

Colbie Young/Malik Benson: 2 talented receivers that are receiving praise and work with the 1s. Young is a big-bodied boundary WR that uses his size to his advantage and can come down with the football even if he was falling from a building. Benson, similar to Douglas, continues to stack days and sits in the midst of an ambiguous WR room begging for playmakers. Snag these guys up if they are still on your waiver wires.

Matthew Hibner: A shout for those in TEP leagues, Hibner sits in a Baltimore TE room that has Mark Andrews and not a whole lot else, from a fantasy upside perspective. I am a Mark Andrews believer and buyer, but I am also trying to handcuff him with Hibner in my TEP leagues. Hibner has good hands and can stretch the field with his athleticism. Waiver priority in deep-TEP leagues.

Buying the Buzz: Contenders

Chris Godwin: There's a lot of discourse on whether or not Godwin is washed, or if he just won't be right returning from injury. If any manager is skeptical, I am chomping at the bit to buy Godwin. Fit to fill the slot role for Zac Robinson and Baker Mayfield, when Godwin is on the field and healthy he produces. Egbuka will reign supreme all over the field, but Godwin will be the 2nd most productive pass catcher underneath doing the dirty work. Hurst and McMillan are flashier names, but when it comes down to it, this is a Bucs team that needs to win + Godwin's veteran leadership is something Baker will rely on. I'd try to acquire Godwin with Jakobi Meyers, Tyler Allgeier, Woody Marks & Khalil Shakir (with a trade of mine I completed below to acquire Godwin).

George Kittle: A true manimal. I'm not betting against Kittle and the upside he possesses. A true difference making TE that I'd gladly trade a mid-2027 2nd round pick for on a contending team. All accounts have George returning to play by Week 1 or close to and even if he doesn't make the trip to Australia, he'll be worth the price.

Quick Hitters:

Jayden Higgins/Tre Harris/Pat Bryant: Three second year WRs that are getting buzz on their growth in the offense that I'm trying to buy even as a contender. Acquire Higgins for Metcalf or a contending 2027 2nd. Acquire Harris for Rashid Shaheed or a rookie like Zachariah Branch or Elijah Sarratt. Acquire Bryant for Diggs, Deebo or the training camp darling, Ja'Kobi Lane.


Tight End Talk.

Here's a couple tiers from latest dynasty TE update at AngleRanks.com showing 2 separate tiers of veteran production and youth/upside. I'm aggressive with younger TEs from a rankings perspective because the tight end position in general is so volatile and I aim for maximum upside. 

I'm personally trying to find a way to take the TEs I own in the veteran tier and tier down to those below + gain something on top whether a future pick or a corresponding depth player. I shoot for absolute upside at the TE position once we get past the known commodities because there are always old reliable TEs like a Hunter Henry, Dallas Goedert, and Dalton Schultz that can be had for cheap if we miss our shot on the young upsides. Terrance Ferguson is my favorite TE target in dynasty as I think he steps in to an increased role in the offense effectively as their WR3. McVay can create mismatches for him at will and Ferguson has tremendous upside if Puka or Davante go down. I know Hunter Henry just secured his money bag, but I'm still aggressively targeting Eli Raridon in dynasty. He's already getting plenty of buzz as the cemented TE2 and the standalone role + contingent upside of a Henry injury is too tantalizing. AJ Barner flashed in 2025 as the out-of-nowhere TE to finish top-15 at the position. I like Barner to continue his ascension as the Seahawks TE1 even though Arroyo has potential to rise. Chig is the older TE of the group I'd like to buy, but he steps into the best opportunity of his career in a progressive offense that should take advantage of his strengths. Okonkwo has been the model of health too, playing all 17 games in each of his 4 seasons.
