The Bugatti Parked at the $20K House: Stop Fading De'Von Achane

We’re at that point in the offseason. The point in which everyone’s brain seems to overthink in the same way. And lately it seems the Fade De'Von Achane crowd has been loud. And I just have to get my thoughts out there. Fading De'Von Achane in 2026 is a giant mistake. And it’s starting to become consensus. I selfishly hope it gets even more prevalent. Right now Achane is being drafted in the 2nd round on Underdog. An ADP of 15.8. And the reason everyone points to for the fade is how bad the team is around him. And yes that’s true. No one will remember the 2026 Miami Dolphins. I don’t foresee many players on that offense being in the league 5 years from now. But De'Von Achane on the 2026 Miami Dolphins is quite literally the Bugatti parked at the $20,000 house meme.

And while some are scared the roof may fall down and crush the $2 million sports car, I’m sitting here daydreaming about how quick that thing can go 0-60. Especially if someone’s willing to give it to me at a massive discount. I’m of the belief there are very similar looking sports cars parked at better looking houses in Detroit and Atlanta. Only problem with those is it’ll cost you pick 1 or 2 to acquire them. But this one? This one you can get at pick 16. And it has nothing to do with the quality of the car and everything to do with the house at which it’s parked. And the reason I feel this way can be explained pretty simply with a few stats and charts.

Achane is one of the most efficient running backs on the ground and through the air that the NFL has to offer. Which can be seen very clearly here. Above the trend line in YPRR and #1 in yards after contact per attempt in 2025 when accounting for volume. It’s not just two stats that show his hyper efficiency.

Here's another. Achane, Bijan, and Gibbs stand alone when it comes to yards per carry and receptions per game. Achane is the most efficient RB on the ground and it's not particularly close. Okay, so Achane is extremely efficient. How does he handle volume?

Achane was 2nd among the position in team scrimmage yards share among running backs in 2025. 38.5% of the Dolphins' offensive scrimmage yards ran through De'Von Achane. And he didn't play in Week 18. Not to mention this was with Jaylen Waddle on the team, who is now in Denver. If Achane stays healthy, he should account for even more of the 2026 Dolphins offense than he did last year. This next graphic will show just how bad the supporting cast of characters is this year in Miami.

This is who De'Von Achane is competing for touches with. It's quite funny to see it presented this way. And this is exactly the reason why everyone's fading him. Which doesn't make sense to me. The two things everyone should seek out from a running back in fantasy football are volume and efficiency. Achane has both. And not just a little bit of both. But a boatload of both. The football should be glued to Achane's hand on every play if the Dolphins want any chance of getting a 1st down this season. Sure, I understand the position of not wanting fantasy players from bad offenses. But in the case of De'Von Achane, whatever he doesn't give you in terms of touchdowns, he will make up for in terms of catching the ball out of the backfield. His receiving floor is elite. His rushing efficiency is elite. And his volume is going to be the most elite of the elites. It really doesn't get better than this. Especially when you consider the acquisition cost. Pick 16? Come on now. He should be going in the mid 1st round of every 2026 fantasy football draft, regardless of format. This is a whole new definition of league winner.

To those of you scared of drafting Achane due to the Miami Dolphins being bad, here's the thing: you're probably not going to win your league anyway. Only one team can win the league. And it's most likely not going to be the team who shies away from elite running backs given elite volume in favor of someone that makes you feel..."safer." Don't be the guy/gal that shies away from greatness because you're nervous about losing a game that only one person can win. Seek out the extreme variance with the extreme ceiling. This is how you win. I'm aware that De'Von Achane is 190 pounds, on a horrible football team, and will probably be in danger of being shut down due to minor injuries late in the season. I just don't care. Especially when you give him to me in round two. Because: HELLO!? YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!
