☕️Bi-Weekly Brew: Washington Commander Edition
By The Dynasty Cafe · June 28, 2026 · Play For Keeps Articles
Welcome back to The Dynasty Cafe for the third edition of the ☕️Bi-Weekly Brew, where I provide some special blends for YOUR specific team build. Be sure to try out the previous Brew if you missed it! Last time, we dove into “America’s Team”, the Dallas Cowboys, and identified some targets for contenders and rebuilders alike. Before we continue: Seriously? America’s Team? Really? Did anyone else not get their survey in the mail as to who really is “America’s Team? I didn't realize we voted on that collectively.
Today, we head on over to Washington to discuss The Commanders! Injuries derailed their season last year with Jayden and Scary Terry missing time. Can they avoid the injury bug and return to their 2024 form? If so, how can YOU take advantage? Let's dive in!
For those that are new: welcome in! Here’s what you’ll find in each edition of the ☕️Bi-Weekly Brew:
In each brew, we will assume super flex is in play, with full point PPR and .5 TEP.
For each team, we’ll be identifying:
☕️Our House Blend: the perfect player for any build
☕️The Espresso Shot: a player to provide that high upside boost to your rebuilding team
☕️The Dark Roast: ole reliable, a player that can push a contender to its peak
Let's dive into the players!
☕️House Blend: Jayden Daniels☕️
This one is pretty obvious. Young, cornerstone QBs with rushing upside are hard to come by. As a rookie, Jayden lit the league ablaze and rewarded those who drafted him to their fantasy teams with a QB5 finish. This included seven weekly finishes in the Top 5, and two weekly finishes as QB1. Last year wasn’t quite the same story as he missed 10 games. However, he finished with 16+ points in every game he played, minus week 14 against Minnesota.

Whether you’re a contending team looking for a top QB, or a rebuilding team just looking to find your anchor, JD5 is the right choice for your build. Let’s take a look at some potential trades for acquiring Jayden Daniels via the Sharp Tracker:

This is a perfect example of weaponizing draft picks to secure a dominant QB. This team was the runner up in 2025 given that they had the 1.11 in the 2026 draft. The upgrade from Bryce to Jayden is well worth giving up these late picks for. The picks look shiny, but unless they're early picks, they're more of a dart throw than guaranteed starter. Give me the long term security and increase in points tiering up from Bryce to Jayden.

For rebuilders, this is an example of getting off aging pieces to get a young cornerstone. While the age gap from Love to Jayden is minimal, the upside of Jayden is significantly higher. This is just one example of the possible trades a rebuilder could make to get Jayden. This type of move is the desired route for rebuilders: keep the draft picks, and focus on getting young cornerstone assets by giving up the aging vets.
☕️Espresso Shot: Chigoziem Okonkwo☕️
The 26 year old tight end starts the prime of his career in a new home 2026. His new QB, Jayden Daniels, found success throwing to Zach Ertz. Putting an athletic freak in that position should bear many fruits for Chig owners. As you can see below, Chig was significantly better after the catch than Ertz was last year:

Despite having similar yards per receptions last year, Chig averaged almost 4 more yards after the catch per reception than Ertz. Assuming similar volume, Chig should be able to excel and receive a huge bump in value during the season. Rebuilders should hold Chig as he can be a starting asset when the team is ready to compete.

Let’s see an example of a trade a rebuilder can make RIGHT NOW to get Chig on their team before the boom occurs:

A 28 2nd is probably about fair value for Chig. Securing your TE of the future at the cost of a pick two years away is a great way to start filling in your long term lineup. At Chig's age, he should be relevant for multiple seasons to come. This seems like the most realistic move, though there was multiple instances of Chig going for a 3rd + 4th round rookie picks. I'm all over that as a rebuilder!
☕️The Dark Roast: Terry McLaurin☕️
Terry had a career high in TDs in 2024 during Jayden Daniels’ first season. During this time, he produced ELEVEN finishes inside the Top 20, with four inside the top 10. Talk about consistency! Injuries to both he and his QB led to regression in all categories in 2025, though he still did show off his upside with a WR8 finish in Week 13. Terry is getting up there in age, but could likely be acquired for cheap from a team that is rebuilding, and consistently provide low end WR2 numbers (while having WR1 upside) to a competing team.

For the prices he’s going for, he is an absolute steal for contenders! Just take a look at these trades that went down in REAL LEAGUES, courtesy of Sharp Tracker:

As a contender, Terry will likely provide you more than whatever these 2nds turn into. Cash in those future picks for points now! This is one of the more expensive deals, and I still would not think twice about it. There were also plenty of trades like the one below that show Terry is being significantly undervalued:

I'm in on Rachaad as much as the next guy, but this is just ridiculous. I could do an article just on these buy lows on Terry. If you're contending, check in with the Terry owner. You may be able to find yourself a nice bargain!
Be sure to explore the Sharp Tracker for more trade ideas like those above. That is a great tool for gauging how some of the site identified top players are valuing players, and what they're doing to buy or sell them.
