☕️Bi-Weekly Brew: New York Jets Edition

Welcome back to The Dynasty Cafe for the seventeenth edition of the ☕️Bi-Weekly Brew, where I provide some special blends for YOUR specific build. Be sure to try out the previous Brew if you missed it! Last time, we wrapped up our NFC talk by discussing the dynamic Los Angeles Rams offense. Kyren Williams, Blake Corum, and Max Klare were the main topics of discussion. Check out the previous article for a breakdown of what each player brings to the table and what I'd pay to acquire them!
We’re officially past the halfway point, and we now shift our focus to the AFC. We’ll start in the AFC East with the New York Jets. There’s not many positive things to say about them, honestly. Year one under Aaron Glenn was a dud. The QB play was awful, Garrett Wilson was hurt, and really nothing went well for the team. They didn’t even tank well enough to get the top pick in the draft. However, they did manage to bring in some exciting new weapons in the 1st round, drafting TE Kenyon Sadiq and WR Omar Cooper to help take some attention away from Garrett. With the veteran Geno Smith back in town, can the offense become an average offense and give us some fantasy players worth rostering? Let’s take a look at a few of the players I actually wouldn’t mind adding to my teams!
☕️Bi-Weekly Brew Themes☕️
For those that are new: welcome in! Here’s what you’ll find in each edition of the ☕️Bi-Weekly Brew:
In each brew, we will assume super flex is in play, with full point PPR and .5 TEP.
For each team, we’ll be identifying:
☕️Our House Blend: the perfect player for any build
☕️The Espresso Shot: a player to provide that high upside boost to your rebuilding team
☕️The Dark Roast: ole reliable, a player that can push a contender to its peak
☕️House Blend: Garrett Wilson☕️
Garrett Wilson has been one of the only shining stars on the Jets over the last few seasons. He’s produced three 1000+ yard seasons, and likely would’ve continued that trend in 2025 had injuries not played a role. Despite this, he’s only produced one season inside the Top 10. It’s easy to point to the QB play as the main factor holding him back. Unfortunately, it’s looking like another year of mediocre play as Geno Smith has returned. As sad as this is to say, he is likely an upgrade over the QB room of Justin Fields, Tyrod Taylor, and Brady Cook, though not by much. We’ve at least seen that Geno can feed his top option, so maybe there’s some hope for Wilson in fantasy land. I’m going to go out on a limb and say the Jet’s offense will get A LOT of garbage time opportunities this season, which can really provide some nice fantasy days for a WR. Garrett should be able to rack up the yards and catches against soft defenses late in games, which is perfect for a contender.

There is some potential hope on the horizon for Garrett and his fantasy owners! There are some solid QBs (allegedly, I haven't started scouting the class yet) coming out in the 2027 draft class, and the Jets are projected to snag one. Rebuilders can rest assured that the QB play will improve in the coming years and can safely rely on Wilson to be a rebuilding piece. Wilson is already 26, but can have a late resurgence similar to what we are likely to experience with Devonta Smith. Add/hold Garrett and lock down one of your WRs for the next few seasons, especially if you’re getting close to exiting your rebuild and shifting to contending phase. If you’re just starting your rebuild and it's looking like a multi-year rebuild, you can probably just move off Wilson.
Let's break down a couple trades from the Sharp Tracker involving Garrett Wilson:
I've said it once and I'll continue to say it: if you're a true contender, don't be afraid to turn draft capital into points. Garrett is a perennial 1000 yard receiver and undoubtedly the top option in his offense. Admittedly, knowing the hype surrounding this upcoming 2027 class, I'd probably try to get something small throw back with Garrett. Nothing crazy, just a future 3rd round pick for my troubles. There's some other guys I'd rather spend that 1st on, but I don't hate Garrett for this price.
Also saw a trade of a late 2027 1st and late 2027 2nd. Not awful, but I think there are better players to be had for that price. Stick with a single 2027 1st, and try to get a small throw on if possible.
This one works for both a contender and a rebuilder. As a contender, Garrett does more for you now, and likely further down the line than whatever you're snagging at the 1.10 and 2.03. Take the established guy over the mystery boxes if you're hunting a title.
Given the lack of depth in this class, Garrett is likely out producing the guys taken with those picks long term. Some of the guys going around the 1.10 are Denzel Boston, Omar Cooper, and Ty Simpson. I'll take Garrett over the next 3 years compared to those names. The 2nd round is hard to project, so a variety of guys could realistically be at the 2.03, and again, I like Garrett over all of them. Garrett is in his prime and has already shown the ability to produce. Go against traditional strategy and acquire your WR2 for these picks as a rebuilder.
☕️Espresso Shot: Kenyon Sadiq☕️
Kenyon was taken 16th overall in last year's draft and was widely regarded as the most athletic TE in the draft. Fantasy managers are hoping both Kenyon and the Jets can use this athleticism to propel him into a weekly starting option for fantasy teams. Unfortunately, he is going to struggle with QB play just like Garrett Wilson. However, Sadiq is only 21.4 years old. TEs generally take a few years to blossom, so he’s a good stash option for a rebuilding team. It also gives the Jets some time to figure out who’s getting him the ball long term. Fingers crossed they nail their selection in 2027.

He’s a bit banged up in camp, so use this as a chance to buy Sadiq a little cheaper than what he should be valued at. I anticipate there being a few chances to buy this season, whether it’s due to injury or just poor play. Rebuilders should look to add the youngster and stash him. If he figures it out, he could be what we all wanted Kyle Pitts to be.
Let's take a peak at a trade I'd make to get Sadiq, courtesy of Sharp Tracker:
This trade is a good call back to the "☕️Bi-Weekly Brew: Green Bay Packers Edition" from earlier in the series. Watson was the ☕️The Dark Roast in that article, so this trade makes sense for both parties. While Watson is a good candidate to have a solid season, he has some long term question marks given his injury history. Offloading him for a young, 1st round TE is a solid pivot for a rebuilder. It gets points off your team now while ideally filling a starting spot for years to come. Sadiq will likely have a shaky start to his career given the offensive situation, but that's no problem in a rebuild. Stash Sadiq, say a prayer the Jets find a long term answer at QB, and enjoy what this athletic freak can produce throughout his career.
☕️The Dark Roast: Breece Hall☕️
Breece has been the other shining star in the Jets' offense. Like Garrett, we’ve only got one truly elite season from Breece, which was an RB2 overall finish in 2023. Breece has almost everything a contender would want from an RB, except a competent offense. I understand how that might not seem like a very like exception, but just follow me on this one. He’s shown an ability to excel both rushing the ball and catching the ball out of the backfield. Unfortunately, the lack of TD chances really caps his upside. I’d still be looking to lock him down as my team's RB2 given the talent and the receiving volume I expect him to receive. We’ve seen Geno pepper his RBs with targets in the past. Just last year, he peppered Ashton Jeanty with 73 targets, which put him 7th in the league in RB targets. In comparison, Breece saw 48 targets.

Breece finished as the RB21 last year and gave owners 13 PPG despite finding the end zone only five times. Geno isn't a great QB, but he is better than what the Jets were trotting out last year. I have to imagine he helps improve the offense, even if it won’t lead to a huge leap. Even so, this could lead to a few more scoring chances, which will really help Breece get closer to his ceiling. Even if he doesn’t score 10+ total TDs, the increase in receiving volume alone should be able to push him closer to the RB12-15 range, which is pretty solid for your team’s RB2 spot. Take advantage of the stink that surrounds the Jets and acquire a solid RB to improve your team’s RB room.
Regardless, known assets are generally the better play for a contender. We know Breece is the 2nd option in the Jets' offense, and could be in line for a big receiving role given Geno's history. Getting a 3rd back is nice, but not necessary. If your draft already concluded, I'd look to move a late 2027 1st or a mid-late 2028 1st to add Breece to my starting lineup. Just like with Garrett, I'd look to get something small on top of Breece for that 2027 1st before making the trade 1-for-1.
