☕️Bi-Weekly Brew: New England Patriots Edition
By The Dynasty Cafe · August 18, 2026 · Play For Keeps Articles
Welcome back to The Dynasty Cafe for the eighteenth edition of the ☕️Bi-Weekly Brew, where I provide some special blends for YOUR specific build. Be sure to try out the previous Brew if you missed it! Last time out, we spent some time in the Miami sun and covered the Dolphins. They’re not a pretty team, but they do have a few guys who are worth taking swings on, specifically De’Von Achane, Chris Bell, and Greg Dulcich. Check out the previous article for a breakdown of those guys and the price I’d pay to acquire them.
Today is a nice change of pace from the last few articles as I get to talk about some good football again. The Patriots are next up, and boy did they have an interesting offseason. Everyone quickly forgot about their Super Bowl loss as it was overshadowed by the juicy Vrabel-Russini chronicles. I’m sure that won’t be a distraction for the team at all. New England isn't only full of spicy relationship scandals, though. Vrabel may shine in the bedroom, but they have some players that prefer to shine on the field. Drake Maye takes the reigns in his 3rd NFL season and finally has an elite WR catching passes for him with the addition of AJ Brown. Not to take anything away from Stefon Diggs, but he’s not on the level of AJ Brown right now. We also get to see what steps TreVeon Henderson takes in his sophomore season. Will Rhamondre Stevenson still be a nuisance, or will Henderson take hold of the backfield?
One of the knocks against the Pats this year is based around the fact their schedule (on paper) is harder than the cakewalk they had this year. However, the guys were going to talk about today are super talented. They could have a tiny big of regression with a tougher schedule, but it's not enough for me to avoid them. Let’s dig a bit deeper into Maye, Henderson, and AJ Brown and break down what teams they’d fit on, and what price I’d pay to add them.
☕️Bi-Weekly Brew Themes☕️
For those that are new: welcome in! Here’s what you’ll find in each edition of the ☕️Bi-Weekly Brew:
In each brew, we will assume super flex is in play, with full point PPR and .5 TEP.
For each team, we’ll be identifying:
☕️Our House Blend: the perfect player for any build
☕️The Espresso Shot: a player to provide that high upside boost to your rebuilding team
☕️The Dark Roast: ole reliable, a player that can push a contender to its peak
☕️House Blend: Drake Maye☕️
I try to avoid the obvious if I can, but Drake Maye is in too good of a spot to not make him the focal point of the discussion. Going into year 3, he is already getting crowned as the next Josh Allen for fantasy. In year 2, and his first under Mike Vrabel, Maye lit his opponents up, giving managers a QB2 finish on the season, and a whopping NINE weekly finishes inside the Top 10. This also includes a 32 point performance (42 if your league is 6 points for passing TDs) in the the fantasy championship. The situation is even better on paper going into year 3 with the addition of AJ Brown. I worry he's slowing down a bit, but there’s no doubt he’ll be a great red zone weapon for Maye.

He’s a true do-it-all QB, finishing 4th in both rushing and passing yards for QBs last season. The dual threat ability provides owners a safe weekly floor while also providing the high ceiling needed to be a week winner, especially suitable teams contending for a title. As a rebuilder acquiring Maye, you’re getting what you hope to be the next Josh Allen for the next decade. Getting a young QB1 asset can propel your rebuild forward in a hurry. The price will be hefty, but the juice is worth the squeeze.
Let's look at a couple trades for Maye, courtesy of Sharp Tracker:

I like this trade for both sides if they're contenders. One team builds depth, while the other gets a massive boost at QB. Both Purdy and Wilson were talked about in their respective team's ☕️Bi-Weekly Brew, so I'm not fading them by any means. However, it's not steep enough of a price for me to turn down Drake Maye. Maye looks poised to be a fantasy superstar for the next decade. He's a "set it and forget it" QB, and with him on your roster, you can focus on adding additional pieces without having to sweat your QB position. I posted this trade with contenders in mind, but the more I ponder it, the more I like pulling the trigger on this as a rebuilder as well. As a contender, I would prefer to do this trade only if I have WR depth. If it's a big drop off from Wilson to your next WR, I'd replace Garrett with some draft capital instead. I'd start with a 1st and 2nd round pick, aiming to push them as far down the line as possible. Drake will likely be more expensive than this, but it provides a solid starting point.

This move is geared towards a rebuilder, and it's pretty self explanatory given the comparison I made earlier. Maye is looking like a fantasy superstar. While Allen is the most expensive asset in dynasty, he is getting up there in age. I like the reset at the position if I'm looking to tear my team down and start fresh. By going from Allen to Maye, you're getting 6 years younger, and getting similar production! Given that Allen is the top asset in dynasty right now, I think those draft picks involved need to be reversed, at a minimum. While Maye is great long term, Allen can be flipped for Maye + a pick without much fuss. Go get your teams future QB1 and check one spot off your list of needs.
☕️Espresso Shot: TreVeon Henderson ☕️

The 23.8 year old 2nd round draft pick got off to a slow start to his rookie season. As the season progressed, we really got to see the home run hitting ability we were expecting from Henderson. From Week 10 on, Tre had three finishes inside the Top 5. He showcased week winning upside, having two games over 140 rushing yards. Despite being 24th in the league in carries with 180, Henderson was tied for 2nd in the league amongst running backs with four 40+ yard rushes. Check out the chart below to see where he stacks up with some of the leagues best:

The one of the knocks on Henderson is he lacks vision. However, give him an easy hole to run through, and he’s a threat to take it to the house. These explosive plays can be real game changers for fantasy. Now is the perfect time for a rebuilding team to add TreVeon to their rosters. There is still some uncertainly on how the backfield shakes out in New England; will TreVeon be the RB1, or will Rhamondre Stevenson still play a massive role? Pursue him now before we get an answer that potentially spikes Henderson’s value. Long term, he is a nice piece to build around.
Henderson is getting a lot of movement according to Sharp Tracker. Here's a trade I saw that shows the uncertainly that owners have with him:

If owners drafted Tuten, they likely spent a 3rd to get him. There is no better time than the present to cash in on the Tuten hype and get a legit long term weapon at RB. Both RBs are about the same age, but Henderson has the better draft capital AND has looked significantly more explosive than Tuten during their short time in the league. I'll take the RB with the better draft capital and prospect profile coming into the league to help solidify my RB room long term. Both RBs may find themselves in a committee this season. However, I'm less concerned about Henderson as he's shown he doesn't need many touches to put up huge numbers.
I also saw a few trades where Henderson got moved for a singular 1st round pick, and other deals that cost a 1st and 3rd. I'd also be fine moving the picks if they aren't projected to be early. Stevenson being around doesn't scare me enough to shy away from investing in Henderson as a long term answer at RB if I'm rebuilding.
☕️The Dark Roast: AJ Brown☕️
AJ Brown’s time in Philly concluded in a drama-filled 2025 season. Despite the contentious situation, AJ was still able to produce a WR11 finish in PPR formats, giving owners four Top 5 weekly finishes along the way. He finds himself in a fresh start with a familiar face, being reunited with his former coach from his days with the Titans. He also gets an upgrade at QB, and finds himself in a WR room where he’s the unquestioned WR1.

Last year, it looked like AJ lost a step at times. Whether that was just a lack of effort or him really slowing down remains to be seen. Regardless, he’ll be an excellent, big-bodied Red Zone target for Drake Maye, and should see plenty of volume throughout the year. If you need a boost at WR to make a push for the title, AJ can be that guy. Unfortunately, the price to acquire AJ has spiked since he left Philly. However, he’s still worth the price for teams going for it all for the next couple of seasons.
Let's take a look at a trade I'd make as a contender to acquire AJ Brown:

This is as simple as it gets. If a rebuilder in your league has AJ and is ready to cash in on his recovered value, I'd easily send a 1st their way to boost my WR room. In reality, I think a single 1st is too cheap to get a deal done. I'd open with the above offer, but would be prepared to add a 2nd or 3rd on top if needed. If it costs a 1st and 2nd, I'd ask for something cheap as a throw in to swing value back my way a bit. I'd hunt for a late round pick or a dart throw add-on (Oscar Delp, DeVaughn Vele, Demond Claiborne, Jaydon Blue, to name a few). As a contender, it is completely valid to trade draft picks for pieces that help you right now and go chase that shiny trophy!
