☕️Bi-Weekly Brew: Minnesota Vikings Edition
By The Dynasty Cafe · July 11, 2026 · Play For Keeps Articles
Welcome back to The Dynasty Cafe for the seventh edition of the ☕️Bi-Weekly Brew, where I provide some special blends for YOUR specific build. Be sure to check out the previous Brew where I took a bite out of those cheeseheads in Green Bay.
Today, we head to the home of the Skol to break down the Minnesota Vikings. Kevin O’Connell and the Vikings offense are coming off their worst statistical season since he took over, which led to many disappointed fantasy managers, especially those who rostered Justin Jefferson. The offense just never got clicking under J.J. McCarthy (aka Nine) and Max Brosmer. Is Kyler Murray the spark the Vikings need to return to the powerhouse offense managers love? If you want a piece of this offense, here are the guys YOU need to acquire!
☕️Bi-Weekly Brew Themes☕️
For those that are new: welcome in! Here’s what you’ll find in each edition of the ☕️Bi-Weekly Brew:
In each brew, we will assume super flex is in play, with full point PPR and .5 TEP.
For each team, we’ll be identifying:
☕️Our House Blend: the perfect player for any build
☕️The Espresso Shot: a player to provide that high upside boost to your rebuilding team
☕️The Dark Roast: ole reliable, a player that can push a contender to its peak
☕️House Blend: Justin Jefferson☕️

Superstar receivers being the anchor for both rebuilders and contenders will be a common theme as we travel throughout the league, especially when discussing teams that don’t have a superstar QB. Jefferson is coming off his worst season as a pro, which is impressive considering he missed some games in 2023 due to injury. This awful season (by Jefferson standards) has caused a dip in value, and created a buy window for us unlucky enough to not have him rostered. Previously, Jjettas had been a top 10 WR in every full season he’s played. Volume wasn't the issue for Jefferson last season, as he saw 7+ looks in 12 games. So how did he not produce WR1 numbers? The answer: Nine. Jefferson saw targets, but they weren't quality targets. It feels gross relying on Kyler Murray to be a savior, but if Kyler is even slightly better than J.J McCarthy, Jefferson should return to his WR1 form. The system he's thrived in is still being utilized, and there's no new threats to his target share. Strike while the iron is hot and go get your WR1 of the present and future! For those that need more swaying on whether to truly go after JJ, just check out the numbers from his last three seasons, and his projected PPG for this season:

*note: Jefferson played 10 games in 2023 due to injury
For contenders, you're getting an almost QB-proof, perennial top 10 WR. For rebuilders, you're getting your superstar that will anchor your team down the line. I'll concede: JJ is a little older than the players I generally target as a rebuildr (27). However, we've previously talked about how elite WRs produce well into their 30s. At the worst, rebuilders can acquire him now and flip him midseason when his value has recovered.
Lets take a look at the Sharp Tracker for some Jefferson trade recipes:

I can hear it now: "But DC, the 2027 class is stacked! How can you recommend trading '27 picks away??" Simple: if I'm a contender, I want to win now. I don't care about the shiny rookies; I care about getting that shiny trophy at the end of the season. I'll gladly trade away future capital to get a superstar WR. Those picks could be anything after all, even Justin Jefferson! Go acquire your WR1 to add to a contending team and watch him bring in the points. I'd even do it if one of the picks was an early 2027 1st! I don't hate the move for rebuilders either, though I'd rather try to make one of those picks a 2028 1st if possible.

Generally, trading a young WR AND a first is a no-no when rebuilding. As someone who isn't really in on Brian Thomas, I'm ok doing it to acquire my superstar WR1. I would do something similar for WRs like Chris Olave, Marvin Harrison, and Jaylen Waddle. These guys are either similar in age to Jefferson (and less talented), or just overall not as sure fire of a bet to be scoring points over the next few seasons.
☕️Espresso Shot: Demond Claiborne☕️
Don’t read what I’m not saying. This is in no means saying the 6th round pick out of Wake Forest will be a core piece for a rebuilder. However, he IS a guy who can see a moderate value increase if he sees the field. While I’m not calling for him to beat out Aaron Jones Sr. or Jordan Mason, it is very possible that we see him in some games when Jones inevitably gets hurt, or if Jordan Mason continues to fumble the rock. Even if he doesn’t see the field, his value will still get a slight boost as people eat up all the training camp hype videos. He does have some beneficial physical traits too, running a 4.37 and being graded with a 74 athleticism score, per NFL Next Gen Stats. That ranks him 8th amongst the 2026 RB class. He'll need to have a good camp, but a pathway to success can be carved out for young Demond.

The price to acquire Claiborne is pretty cheap, as we can see below:

If my argument for Claiborne seeing a value spike is considered "pie in the sky" (though I think it's pretty logical), then I don't even know what you'd call an argument for a Mike Washington value increase. Both guys in front of Claiborne have an injury history; Jeanty as of now does not (fingers crossed this isn't a jinx). Give me the RB who has an easier pathway to playing time. If you want to move a pick for Claiborne, I'd offer as high as any 3rd round pick.
Acquiring guys before their value increases are where rebuilders can really expedite their rebuild. Acquire him for a 3rd/4th now; flip him for a 2nd/3rd later on in the year. It’s not a game changing deal, but stack enough small wins and you’ll have an easier time rebuilding. Not every move has to be a home run! Singles are ok sometimes. There's also a possibility he becomes a Chase Brown or Kyren Williams type, meaning he holds a job despite being a late round pick. Rebuilders can either flip him, or take the risk and hope the Vikings see him as their future back (at least for 2027).
☕️The Dark Roast: Kyler Murray☕️
Kyler ends up on the short end of a lot of jokes in the football community, whether it be for his height or his annual addiction to the newest Call of Duty. Despite this, he’s had multiple Top 10 seasons as a starter. Kyler is getting a fresh start coming off the Arizona breakup, and he couldn’t have landed in a better spot. This is the best offense he’s played in, and he has never been surrounded by better weapons. Throw in KOC calling the plays and tailoring the offense to our favorite Keebler Elf’s strengths, and you get a high ceiling option that you can start in your superflex spot every week.

Kyler may be the cheapest QB that can be acquired who has Top 5 weekly upside. More important than his offensive situation, Call of Duty is going downhill; we may get the most locked in Kyler we’ve ever seen! Let's take a look at what the Sharp Tracker has for us:

On surface, this looks like a massive overpay for Kyler. However, when you really break it down, Kyler is the most valuable piece involved for contenders. To attach names to these picks, a superflex league I'm in saw Omar Cooper and Kaytron Allen go at the 1.11 and 2.06, respectively. We've talked about Omar in the past: I like him, but he's projected to be in a not so good offense, and at best be the WR2. Kaytron is fun, but he's got some work to do to move up the depth chart. All players involved have some uncertainty. However, we know Kyler will be the starter for what projects to be a high powered offense on paper. QBs are hard to find. As a contender, I'll take a little risk and bet Kyler returns to Top 12 QB form.
