☕️Bi-Weekly Brew: Miami Dolphins Edition

Welcome back to The Dynasty Cafe for the eighteenth edition of the ☕️Bi-Weekly Brew, where I provide some special blends for YOUR specific build. Be sure to try out the previous Brew if you missed it! The last article wasn’t exactly a doozy as the New York Jets were the flavor of the day.  Despite how bad of an organization they are, there are still a few shining pieces.  Check out the last Brew to see how to acquire Garrett Wilson, Breece Hall, and Kenyon Sadiq, and the “why” behind adding them.

I’ll be honest, today isn’t going to be much better as we stay in the AFC East and talk about the Dolphins.  However, every team gets their time in the sun here.  The Florida sun will at least lighten up the mood of Fins fans, unlike the team they root for.  The Dolphins are basically unrecognizable from last year.  Over the course of the 2026 offseason they lost: QB Tua Tagovailoa, WRs Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill, TE Darren Waller, and HC Mike McDaniel.  Returning from last year is: Devon Achane, Ollie Gordon, and Jaylen Wright.  That’s about it!  This season brings what Miami fans hope is the dawn of a new beginning behind new HC Jeff Hafley and new QB Malik Willis.  Along with them come a completely fresh and young receiving core.  The situation seems bleak, but there’s always some diamonds in the rough to be found.  Let’s take a look at what Dolphins to acquire for our dynasty teams! 

☕️Bi-Weekly Brew Themes☕️

For those that are new: welcome in!  Here’s what you’ll find in each edition of the ☕️Bi-Weekly Brew:

In each brew, we will assume super flex is in play, with full point PPR and .5 TEP. 

For each team, we’ll be identifying:

☕️Our House Blend: the perfect player for any build

☕️The Espresso Shot: a player to provide that high upside boost to your rebuilding team

☕️The Dark Roast: ole reliable, a player that can push a contender to its peak

☕️House Blend: De’Von Achane☕️

This may be the only player on the Dolphins even worth mentioning for fantasy purposes.  I could probably end the article here and no one would argue it (with the exception of the Caleb Douglas fan club).  Achane has been a fantasy superstar for the last couple seasons, and looking at the roster around him, there's no signs of him slowing down.  He may get the ball every play.  The do-it-all back is far and away the best option on this offense, and the coaching staff would be wise to get him the ball if they want to have even the slightest chance of winning games.  Achane is fresh off back to back RB5 finishes, and while I think teams will load the box to stop him on the ground, his passing game usage provides enough of a floor to where he can still finish in the Top 10.  Over the last two seasons, he has seen 87 and 85 targets, and that number should only increase given the departures at WR.

I do have a few worries about Achane this season: will the scheme allow him to get out in space easily like he was able to under Mike McDaniel, and can he stay upright for a whole season if he sees career highs in usage?  The offense also projects to be one of the worst in football, so his TD upside may be capped unless he's able to hit home runs week after week.  

Despite this, the projected volume gives him a built in floor, and his explosiveness creates one of the highest ceilings at the RB position.  This is the perfect set up for a contender.  For rebuilders, while it’s not often I recommend adding an RB, an argument can be made for adding Achane, depending where in the rebuilding phase your team is.  He’ll turn 25 this year, but his passing game usage makes him a threat to be a Top 5 back every year.  He can either be held on rebuilding teams, or sold midseason when a contender desperately needs a back.  Though he is the ☕️House Blend for the Dolphins, he’s likely best utilized as a trade piece for a rebuilder.  However, we’ll still discuss certain scenarios where I think it is actually ok to add Achane, even if you aren’t making a title push.  

Let's take a look at how to acquire Achane:

This trade is definitely a cheap acquisition of Achane.  If you can pull this off, by all means go for it; it's a hell of a move for a contender.  A more realistic trade, and one I'd still make, would be something like Achane for Henderson, a mid to late 2027 or 2028 1st round pick, and possibly any 3rd on top if needed.  In the grand scheme of things, I'm not really in on Achane this year for the reasons I mentioned above.  However, if I were a contender and this offer hit my inbox, it would be hard not to accept.  The questions I have surrounding Achane aren't about the player; they're about the team.  Regardless of how good or bad the Dolphins' offense is, Achane WILL be involved without a doubt.  I can't say the same for Henderson.  All signs point towards Rhamondre Stevenson being a pain in the behind for Henderson owners.  This could end up looking like an overpay if Henderson takes the RB1 role in New England, but I'm happy to pivot to the guaranteed volume Achane will receive.  If he's healthy and the offense is better than anticipated, there is Top 5 upside there.  Turn your Henderson share and 1st round pick into someone who can put up CMC like numbers and go for that championship ring!

This move makes some sense for a rebuilder if you don't want to turn your assets into picks.  I'd try to keep the pick if I could, but pivoting from Taylor to Achane resets your RB room a bit, as it gets about 3 years younger.  While Achane will fall off a cliff quick given his size and style, he still has a few years of relevancy left.  He can be the RB anchor a rebuilder needs when it is finally time to contend.  Pivot off JT into a younger back and push the rebuild along!

☕️Espresso Shot: Chris Bell☕️

The Dolphins spent a 3rd round pick on Chris Bell, and while he wasn’t the first WR they selected, I’m not convinced he isn’t the best.  I had Bell as my WR10 going into the draft, and likely would’ve had him a few spots higher had he not torn his ACL in November.  Despite that, Bell has all the tools to ascend in this relatively weak WR room.  I liked his ability with the ball in his hands, and saw many instances of him making the first guy miss.  Making the first guy miss is key in turning 5-10 yard catches into 20+ yard catches.  He’ll likely be a bit slow out of the gate coming off the injury, but I expect he’ll ramp up at the end of his rookie year and be a guy people are looking to buy going into 2027.

With all the hype surrounding his 3rd Round counterpart Caleb Douglas, there may be a sneaky chance to acquire Bell and stash him on a rebuilding team.  I’m not sure he ever becomes a WR1 for fantasy, but some seasons as a WR2/solid WR3 could be in the cards.  Stash him as a future depth piece if you're rebuilding.

 Let's talk about a trade I'd make as a rebuilder to add Chris Bell:  

This was the only offer where other players weren't involved on the Chris Bell side, which tells me he's super cheap.  In basically all of the other deals I saw on Sharp Tracker, he was an add on in a larger deal.  Rachaad White should have a fine year, but he's not a long term fantasy option.  As I've said previously in other  ☕️Bi-Weekly Brews: WRs generally stay at their peak longer than RBs.  Rachaad is a year to year option who could becoming nothing for fantasy at any given moment, while Chis Bell still has plenty of time for production ahead of him.  He's heavily discounted due to his ACL recovery and the hype surrounding teammate Caleb Douglas.  Caleb could very well be a stud, but I had Bell higher in my pre-draft rankings and I'm sticking with it.  Zig while the rest zag: while everyone is running to get Caleb Douglas, buy the guy who likely would've been drafted higher had he stayed healthy.  Once Bell gets to 100%, I think we see his value return to where it really should be. 

☕️The Dark Roast: Greg Dulcich☕️

Dulcich isn’t a fancy name, but he is one of the more experienced guys on this roster and definitely has the best hair.  That has to count for something!  It’s not crazy to think he quickly becomes a favorite target for Malik Willis given this experience.  In a WR room full of rookies, Dulcich can be the safety valve Malik needs to stay out of trouble.

Greg can also greatly benefit from garbage time. Miami is projected one of the lowest win totals in the league, which means they’ll be losing…a lot.  Dulcich was one of the best TEs last year when it came to yards after catch per reception.  He can easily be a reliable bye week/injury fill in for a contending team who needs a little TE depth.  He's also only 26, so if he has a strong showing this season, he could be a long term option for the Dolphins.  This one year "rental" for your dynasty team has some potential to be a multi year asset! It’s not sexy, but depth usually is pretty mundane.  Check out the chart below for how Dulcich's yards per reception stack up to other TEs:

Dulcich is pretty easy to acquire and well worth the price for the upside he presents.  Here's an example of an actual trade that went down, courtesy of Sharp Tracker:

That's it; just a simple 3rd round pick for a guy that will no doubt be one of the top options in his offense and can easily improve your TE depth.  Is your TE1 on bye? Start Dulcich.  Is your TE1 dealing with injury?  Just throw Dulcich in.  If we harken back to the  ☕️Bi-Weekly Brew: New Orleans Saints Edition, you'll recall Dulcich was traded for Oscar Delp.  For a win now team, I don't hate that route of acquiring Dulcich either.  It's a trade where both sides can walk away feeling like they accomplished something, and those are the best deals to make.  All this to say: Dulcich is pretty cheap.  Pounce before games start and owners get a chance to see his role.
